Maddie Young Physiotherapist / Hydrotherapist

Maddie is an experienced canine hydrotherapist and postgraduate diploma-qualified veterinary physiotherapist, with roots in canine welfare and behaviour. She has a keen interest in neurological rehabilitation and osteoarthritis management, and is a firm believer in a multi-modal approach to therapy.

“My interest in rehabilitation began when I rehomed a dog who suffered from elbow dysplasia and osteoarthritis. I started my journey in hydrotherapy because of him, wanting to be able to give him the best care possible. I started my postgraduate programme in Veterinary Physiotherapy at the University of Nottingham the same year that I adopted him, and my passion for rehabilitation blew up from there.

I now take huge pride in helping the animals I work with to feel more comfortable and build strength, and I place a lot of importance in working with each patient using positive reinforcement methods, so that they progress along their treatment plan at a rate that is comfortable for them.

I’m really looking forward to contributing to such a comprehensive rehabilitation service with the team here at The Oak, and helping the pets of Pembrokeshire get back to their full potential."
